I was hooked on drugs and alcohol, which led me to prison for a sentence of ten years.
Every day I thought about my set of twins that I left out there for my family to take care of, not knowing if I wanted to be a part of their lives. Then I learned about the MATCH program, where mothers and their children visit together in a special place that is like an apartment. I applied and was accepted, but worried all through the parenting classes about whether or not my children would remember me or want me for their mother.
Even though I had not seen my children in over three years, they came into our first visit squealing, "Mama, Mama," and ran into my arms. I can honestly say that they love me for who I am. In MATCH I am learning who they are. I realize that I don't want to keep running away from my responsibility. Thanks to MATCH I have learned what it takes to love my children and to take care of them.
